Seven days, seven artworks: British street artist Banksy continued his series of animal portraits in London today. A glass traffic controller's cabin decorated with fish was discovered in the city of London on the last day of the week. It appears as if the animals are swimming in the cabin as if in an aquarium.
Today, as every other week, the world-famous artist posted an uncommented photo of the idea on the online service Instagram. London Police confirmed: “We are aware of criminal damage to a police box in Ludgate Hill.”
New work every day since Monday
All the works feature animals: on Monday a goat was seen crouching on the wall of a house in Richmond, west London, on Tuesday two elephants were seen on a facade in London’s Chelsea area, and on Wednesday three monkeys were seen on a railway bridge in Shoreditch, east London, apparently painted by Banksy.
The work, which appeared on Thursday, a wolf howling at a satellite dish on top of a disused shop in Peckham, southeast London, was stolen just hours later. Pictures published by British media showed a suspected thief using a ladder to remove the satellite dish from the roof while his accomplice waited below. The results of the investigation are not known.
On Friday, Banksy painted a swan on top of a fish and chip shop in Walthamstow, east London, followed yesterday by a cat on a billboard in the northwest of the city. The work has been removed for security reasons, according to the company that runs it.
