Flick plans a trip to America
The German national football team’s timetable for the year leading up to the 2024 European Championships at home is getting more and more firm.
FRANKFURT AM MAIN (SID) – A sign of peace at the 1000th international match, a trip to the USA in the autumn and finally a showdown with neighbors Austria: the German national football team’s timetable for the year leading up to the domestic European Championship in 2024 is as firm as ever. “We are planning to play our last game in Austria in November. A trip to America is planned for October,” national coach Hansi Flick said in Frankfurt/Main on Monday.
The German Football Association (DFB) said nothing had yet been settled in terms of contract. Official confirmation will be available only after that. The same applies to June’s scheduled clash with Ukraine in Bremen for the DFB anniversary. After the 999th international match against Belgium on Tuesday (8.45pm / RTL) in Cologne, the association wants to send a message against Russian aggression and for peace in the next step. The historic international competition mark that follows provides the best conceptual framework for this.
After that, at Flick’s request, two more international tournaments are planned for June. This continues with two games each in September, October and November. The US tour comes on the back of the 2026 World Cup, which is co-hosted by Mexico and Canada. Until the EURO, the DFB selection will only play test matches, no more competitive matches.
