The 46-year-old said in an interview with Mexican television that recording the hit in January was an “outlet” for her. “I went into the studio in one state of mind and I came out in another.” Without that song and a chance to reflect on the pain, Shakira added, “I wouldn’t be where I am today.”
With the text of her new single, the singer shares lines against her ex-husband and his new partner with the lines: “Lots of sport, but also train your mind a little bit,” “I traded my Ferrari for a Twingo” and “I wouldn’t go back to you even if you cried or begged.”
With over 60 million albums sold, Shakira is one of the most successful musicians of the past two decades. In June last year, she and Pique broke up after twelve years of relationship. They have two children together and have been voted among the “10 Most Powerful Couples in the World” by the American magazine “Forbes” several times.
