French racing team Alpine was the fourth Formula 1 team to submit a car for the new world championship in the leading motorsport category, and McLaren has only presented the design so far. Alpine team boss Bruno Famine emphasized at the official presentation that not only has the design of the A524 been completely reconsidered, but the chassis has also been rethought. “Everything has been rebuilt from start to finish, we have rethought everything,” said the strongman at the helm of the Renault Formula 1 team, which has been racing as Alpine since 2021.
It was much needed after a manageable pre-season. Alpine only finished the World Constructors' Championship in sixth place with 120 points and were often the subject of criticism. In addition, Otmar Szafnauer had to vacate his position as team president midway through the season. Much is expected from the new concept, as well as regarding developments during the year.
Regarding the design, compared to previous years, black is increasingly used due to the high carbon content – along with blue, the traditional Alpine color in Formula 1, and rose red, requested by sponsor BWT. In 2024, some races will once again have a special livery containing more pink. Exactly when this will be used is not yet clear. The driving duo remained the same with the French duo Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon.
