A Forspoken release is now imminent after Square Enix’s action RPG has been pushed back to 2023. The title will also be available on PC soon, but gamers out there likely won’t be happy about the DRM system chosen.
For pirated copies of the PC version of Facebook To avoid this, Square Enix also uses a proprietary DRM system. As it’s now known, this is Denuvo’s controversial anti-tamper technology, which unfortunately doesn’t have the best reputation among PC gamers, but is used time and again in current major titles – including the neo-fantasy – franchise.
This move in regards to Forspoken probably isn’t much of a surprise, since Square Enix has also been known to use this DRM software. Denuvo has appeared in almost every Square Enix game in recent memory.
Denuvo has been around since 2014 and has been constantly improving since then. The DRM system was used for the first time in FIFA 15. The program is controversial among PC gamers because it negatively affects the performance of the respective games. In a few cases, the games themselves were sometimes unplayable due to the use of Denuvo.
Using the system has now been confirmed in Forspoken by a corresponding note on the Steam product page. Even if you get the PC version elsewhere, you probably won’t be able to avoid Denuvo.
After the release period, Denuvo was often removed later in the past, for example in Shadow of the Tomb Raider; And action and adventure showed significantly better performance as a result. It is unknown if and when such a move is also planned for Forspoken.
Forspoken will be released on January 24, 2023 for PC and PS5.
