“Shrek,” “All us Strangers” and “Joyland” will be released on February 14. The last film serves as a preview. This time there is also a dinner and movie package.
As in previous years, the Votivkino Hotel in Vienna once again invites you to a special Valentine's Day party. Three films will be screened this time on Wednesday, February 14 – the animated classic “Shrek” (USA; 2001) at 6:30 p.m., and “We Are All Strangers” (Great Britain, 2023) by director Andrew Hay at 8:15 p.m. And “Joyland” (Pakistan 2023) by Saim Sadiq at 8:30 p.m. “Joyland” is a preview, so it has not been shown regularly in theaters yet.
“We Are All Strangers” revolves around a man who, after a strange encounter with his neighbor, finds himself in the house he grew up in and where his parents still live. On the day they both died.
Joyland tells the story of a middle-class family from the large city of Lahore, torn between family traditions, patriarchal morals, lust and love. The focus of the story is the youngest son, Haider, who secretly works as a dancer, and falls in love with a dancer even though he is married.
In collaboration with Ruth's Restaurant, the cinema has also prepared a dinner and movie package this time. For 29 euros you can get a two-course meal and a ticket to one of the three films mentioned.
