The plans of climate activists from the Last Generation group are thwarted by the police. The TV show was recorded the day before.
Climate activists from the Last Generation group plan to broadcast live on German television (ARD) to disrupt the broadcast of the Christmas service was thwarted, according to the police. Police said on Saturday that because there were indications of work planned for Christmas Eve at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Stuttgart-Mohringen, the mass was recorded the day before.
On Christmas Eve, eight activists from the group appeared in front of the church at noon to carry out their plan. But they did not find a live broadcast, but a closed church. The parish office called the police. Upon their arrival, the officials found two potential troublemakers, who were released after being expelled.
Since the beginning of 2022, the last generation has been blocking motorway exits and intersections in Berlin and other major cities to fight for more climate protection. There were also campaigns in museums, stadiums, ministries, airports and oil pipelines.
