GIGABYTE Showcases AORUS Gen5 10000 PCIe 5.0 SSD

Gigabyte -2020after this Corsair made with MP700 a few days agoToday, GIGABYTE released the first performance data for the AORUS Gen5 10000 SSD. This will be Gigabyte’s first PCIe 5.0 SSD. The new NVMe 2.0 SSD uses the Phison PS5026-E26 as the SSD controller. This is an 8-channel controller designed explicitly for the new PCIe 5.0 SSDs, which ties the fastest DRAM to 2,400 million MB/s. In addition to 3D-TLC NAND, LPDDR4 cache will also be used.

The performance values offered by CrystalDiskMark reveal a sequential read rate of 12,452 MB/s and a write rate of 10,074 MB/s. Corsair posted values of 10,000 and 9,500 MB/s respectively, so it will be a little slower. However, most manufacturers are probably still in the process of verifying this performance or SSD as such on the respective platform. The performance data shown by all manufacturers is not yet final.

The AORUS Gen5 10000 SSD uses the well-known M.2-2280 format — not the wider and longer M.2-25110 format, which we’ve only seen in technical descriptions so far. Gigabyte wants to offer an advanced solid-state drive (SSD) with capacities of 1, 2 and 4 TB. Depending on whether the SSD is used under the motherboard cover or without it, the included cooler can be installed.

There is no information on pricing and availability of the AORUS Gen5 10000 SSD just yet.
