Gina Maria Schumacher
With her husband at Oktoberfest in America
Instead of being in Munich, Gina-Maria Schumacher and Ian Bethke enjoyed fun, including dirndls and lederhosen, at Oktoberfest in America.
Gina-Maria Schumacher (27) had her dream wedding in Mallorca at the end of September. Now, almost two weeks later, the daughter of Formula 1 legend Michael Schumacher (55) is back in America with her husband Ian Bethke (28). On her official Instagram account, Gina-Maria shared a photo of herself and her boyfriend, which shows them both hugging each other and wearing traditional Bavarian clothes at a folk ceremony. Schumacher commented: “Oktoberfest in Texas! Which of you goes to Oktoberfest every year and why do you think it's the best?”
In contrast to the crowds at the original Munich Oktoberfest, things seem much quieter at the Oktoberfest replica in the US state. In the background, the beer benches are sparsely occupied and there is little evidence of Bavarian folklore. Except for Schumacher and Bethke—apparently the only one—clad in dirndls and lederhosen. They both had a piece of popcorn, which Gina-Maria is holding in her hand.
One minor point of criticism: the shoes
More than 17,000 of his roughly 330,000 followers have liked both snapshots. There are many opinions that support newlyweds in choosing their dresses. For example, one follower wrote: “Only properly dressed people.” Another commented: “How cool! Properly in a dirndl and lederhosen.” There was only one small criticism: the choice of shoes. Both wore white sneakers with their traditional attire, an absolute no-go for Bavarian traditionalists. One fan wrote: “But we still need to work on the shoes. But living your own culture in your adopted home is great.”
Successful Western rider Gina-Maria Schumacher has been living in the US for some time with her husband, who is from Baden-Württemberg. In a 2022 interview with equestrian reporter Savannah Magoteaux, he revealed: “We went to Texas.” The two have been together for about seven years and are engaged since 2023. Gina-Maria Schumacher previously lived on the family estate on Lake Geneva in Switzerland.
