It has been known for some time that the Pixel 7 will likely be very similar to its predecessor. Visually, the device should differ only slightly from the Pixel 6. Some of the built-in components can also be grabbed. A leak from Yogesh Brar indicates that the Pixel 6 camera will also be found in the Pixel 7. Google is said to have only made some improvements to the built-in sensors. The lenses should not differ from the components installed in the Pixel 6.
Improvements through new software
Most of the improvements don’t come from different hardware, they come from software upgrades. Google will likely rely on AI functionality for this, which uses the better performance of the new Tensor chip. It is still not clear what features it could be. Since the new processor only works on the Pixel 7 (Pro), software updates shouldn’t be sent to the Pixel 6 at a later time.
A 50-megapixel wide-angle camera with Octa PD and Quad Bayer was used in the Google Pixel 6. In addition, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera was installed. The Pixel 6 Pro also has a 48MP camera with a telephoto lens. It can be assumed that a third sensor will also be included in the Pixel 7 Pro.
A previous leak shows that the Pixel 7 (Pro) has a 6.3- or 6.7-inch OLED display. The Tensor 2 chip is said to be linked to Samsung’s 5G modem. In general, the device should be slightly smaller than its predecessor. The release will likely take place as part of a launch event in October 2022.
