ÖFB player Valentino Lazaro was one of the most important shares in the previous transfer window from the point of view of red, white and red.
In the end, the winger was drawn to Portugal champions Benfica Lisbon on loan from Inter Milan. But other well-known clubs were said to be interested as well, according to his adviser Max Hagmeier. It is said that Borussia Dortmund, among others, has tried to provide services, such as Hagmayr towards the gate FCInterNews Confirmed:
“The negotiations were not easy. Many clubs were interested in the player, including Borussia Dortmund. But in the end, we had to make the best decision for Tino.”
This was the best decision for Benfica because “he wanted time to play, preferably with a team competing in the Champions League”.
In Dortmund, Lazaro had met his former coach Marco Rose, whom the 25-year-old knows well from times together at RB Salzburg and Borussia Mönchengladbach. After an ill-less loan year at Gladbach, Lazaro, who moved to Milan in 2019 for a transfer fee of more than €20m, chose Portugal as the destination.
At least temporarily, Szmaer asserts and explains that, contrary to some media reports, Benfica has neither a buy option nor a purchase obligation after the loan expires in the summer of 2022.
