Yesterday was a good evening for shooter fans, as many representatives of the genre were introduced as part of the PlayStation Show. This includes the sequel to the sci-fi shooter Helldivers 2.
In 2015, Arrowhead Game Studios released Helldivers, a top-down shooter – and Helldivers 2 is now getting a sequel. The developer unveiled its sci-fi shooter sequel at the PlayStation Showcase yesterday, bringing the vibes of cult classics like Starship Troopers back to life.
While maintaining this design, there is a fundamental and important change in the new part. The top-down perspective is completely dropped and is now replaced with a third-person perspective. From there, it is necessary to protect the super-Earth on which ordinary citizens live, moreover, to confront all kinds of insect-like aliens in the galaxy – just like the insects from the Starship Troopers.
In the future, you can play in cooperative mode with up to three other players who have to defeat wave after wave of opponents together. According to Arrowhead Game Studios, the game will offer adrenaline pumping and fast-paced arcade-style action, with the co-op essential for survival.
Helldivers 2 is planned to be released in 2023 on PC and PlayStation 5, but there is no set release date at the moment. But you can take a look at the first aerial trailer below.
