Lisa Hirner, the joint Austrian athlete of the year, was unable to intervene in the battle for podium places at the second Women's World Cup in Seefeld on Saturday.
The 20-year-old Styrian drop to eighth place with another Norwegian double win at the hands of World Cup leader Ida-Marie Hagen and former dominant Gedda Westvold Hansen. Herner had already taken this before the 5km cross-country skiing race.
Herner is not completely satisfied
“Eighth place is not what I thought before the race. The running was very difficult, so I find it a little more difficult overall,” Herner told ORF about the deep conditions on the cross-country skiing track.
Hagen, who had already triumphed on Friday, won by more than a minute over Westvold Hansen. After the jump, she was in second place behind her compatriot, and according to the fixed-distance combined formula, she was six seconds behind.
German Natalie Armbruster came in third place. The other two Austrians Annalena Slamek, sixth after the jump, and Claudia Bürker ended up at the back of the field in 17th and 18th places. Only 21 athletes competed and 19 reached the finish line.
