The Innsbruck Festival Weeks, which ended on Tuesday, was attended by 20,000 visitors. Officials were satisfied with the capacity utilization rate of 96 percent. The final weeks of the festival were under the direction of Artistic Director Alessandro De Marchi.
This year’s Innsbruck Early Music Festival concluded on Tuesday evening with a final concert by retired director Alessandro De Marchi with the Festival Orchestra and Antoine Tamstette in the Great Hall of the House of Music. More than 20,000 guests have attended the 56 events since July 11th.
23 of the 56 events were free. And nearly 11,000 guests did not miss opera performances and concerts. In addition, more than 9,000 interested people attended the aforementioned free events, such as “Mobile Concerto”, “Musica Montana”, luncheons, the Ambras Castle Festival and “Timpani and Trumpets” on the Golden Roof.
Danton follows de Marchi
This year, De Marchi was musically responsible for two works by Vivaldi as part of the festival at the Tiroler Landestheater: the opera “L’Olimpiade” and the scenic oratorio “Juditha Triumphans”. The Italian is leaving Innsbruck after 14 years as manager – more on that in Farewell and Peace Appeal at Festwochen. Ottavio Danton will succeed him as Musical Director – more on this at Innsbruck Festival Weeks with the dual leadership.
