The defending champion retains his chances of defending his title in the HLA Meisterliga: HC Hard won their third quarter-final match against Schwaz Handball Tirol by a clear margin of 36:29 and completes the semi-finals.
The Vorarlbergers start the match with a 3-0 lead and a draw is not allowed until shortly after the end of the first half. The match then swung back and forth until 10:22pm before a six-goal run decimated the Tyroleans’ hopes. They cannot approach more than four targets after that.
As Gerald Zenner’s career nears its end, Harder continues his streak: They’ve been in the semi-finals since the 2010/11 season.
In the semi-finals, which will take place in “best of three” format again from 14 May, Harder will now meet the surprise team, HC Linz. Fivers Margareten deals with UHK Krems.
In the relegation group there is a second victory for SC Ferlach (31:26 over JAGS Vöslau) and a second defeat for HSG Bärnbach / Köflach (20:22 against BT Füchse). Brooker leads the table by one point behind Verlach, and Bad Voslau is three points behind. Barnbach was defeated by six points.
