Two men, a 77-year-old and a 13-year-old, appeared in a three-minute video broadcast by the Islamic Jihad group. It is unclear whether they will be released.
Hanna Katsir sits in a wheelchair with a white wall behind her. On October 7, the 77-year-old was kidnapped from Kibbutz Nir Oz. Just like the 13-year-old boy who was also kidnapped by the armed wing of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad group. They have now put a three-minute video online in which both can be seen. They will be released if the Israeli side agrees to unspecified conditions for the group.
The Israeli army spoke of a “sign of life,” but also condemned the video, describing it as “psychological terrorism.” In the video, the two hostages criticize Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. It is not clear whether they are reading from the text. The Israeli army says that 242 people are currently being held hostage in the Gaza Strip. Four of them have been released so far, while Israeli soldiers released one. Negotiations are currently underway to free the remaining hostages. Hamas authorities claim that about 50 hostages died as a result of the Israeli attacks. (red)
