With the HS Freeze 1s, Rollei expands the Freeze flash series with the first flash installed. This is compatible with cameras from Canon, Nikon, Fuji, Panasonic, Olympus as well as Sony, although an adapter is required for the latter. Equipped with a circular zoom inverter, the built-in flash unit provides a maximum flash output of 80W and has a built-in 2.4GHz remote control trigger that is compatible with other freeze flashes.
Photographers can choose between slave mode, master mode, and manual mode to use the flash unit. In addition, the flash offers HSS, TTL synchronization, 1st / 2nd shutter-curtain sync, and freeze. In freeze mode, the burning time is up to 1/50000 seconds with a maximum recycle time of 1.5 seconds at a color temperature of 5500K.
To avoid interference with other devices, the settings can be divided into 31 channels and 6 groups. Settings made at any time on the 2.8 inch touch screen can be checked and adjusted if necessary.
As an alternative to mounting to a flash shoe, the HS Freeze 1s can be attached to a tripod via an integrated 1/4″ thread on the side or set up using the included cold shoe mount.
The replaceable lithium-polymer battery with a capacity of 1600 mAh provides the required power, one battery charge is sufficient for up to 450 activations, according to Rollei. In addition to the replaceable battery, the scope of delivery also includes a transport bag, a return card and a charger with a charging cable. The HS Freeze 1s Soft Toy, an accessory set with six different color attachments, Honeycomb Cell, Sony Adapter and Bowens Adapter are available as optional accessories.
