ICE leaders Innsbruck beat the Graz 99ers 5-4 away on Friday. The Tyroleans had to fight hard when they were ninth in the table. Only a goal from Martin Ulmer in the penultimate minute decided a particularly high-scoring game with six goals halfway through the period.
VSV also won Fehervar almost 3:2 and broke through Hungary’s goal three games into the first third. In the third game of the day, the Black Wings Lanez lost 3-1 to third-placed Posen. South Tyrol and VisV, which have the same number of points, are the first to chase Innsbruck, ahead of Salzburg and by three points.
While Innsbruck found their way back to the winning ways after losing 5-2 away to champions Salzburg, Streun suffered a third consecutive defeat at home. In Hungary, VSV’s Anthony Luciani ended the hosts’ ban in the 17th minute. Fehervar had gone 236 minutes earlier without conceding, and came close to the KAC league record (262 minutes). The winner of the match for Villach, who achieved his fifth success in a row, was Chris Collins with the winning goal to make it 3: 2 in the 44th minute.
For Linz, there was nothing more accessible in South Tyrol. Upper Austria’s only goal came from Kilian Rapold after trailing 3-0 in the middle third.
