Vienna – Tuesday, September 27, 2022, 9:25 pm
At the start of Round 21 of the win2day ICE Hockey League, the Vienna Capitals celebrated their first win of the season with a 2-1 victory over league newcomers Pioneers Vorarlberg.
The first third is still negative, also because the capitals are wasting a number of opportunities. The first Hartle (8) failed due to a strong reaction of the leading goalkeeper Kavey, then Bradley (13) failed to score the empty goal from a short distance.
The guests from Vorarlberg are well served with a 0-0, but hit the ice cold after the start of the second period. Bull (21) deflects Jacomi’s shot into the near corner, and Cap Starkbaum’s goalkeeper can no longer respond in time.
Sheppard makes the decision
Unruly minutes followed, as both teams found the best chances before Antal (32) scored a well-deserved equalizer. Caffi allows his seemingly harmless wrist shot to pass into the close corner.
In the final division, the hats are the team that determines the game and leads in the 45th minute. Sheppard (45) is the fastest switch in front of goal and pushes a rebound past enough. Before that, Bradley misses a good chance from the hole.
Then Def Bar managed the score at home and can look forward to the first three points of the season. Al Rowad ended their two-day campaign away with a second loss and lost the third match in a row.
