KAC played the first eight games of the season away from home due to extensive renovations to the hall. The first game in the arena, named after club sponsor Heidi Joyce Horton, who died in June, turned into a veritable goal feast in the first third as Linzer advanced 4:3.
In the mid-section and even shortly before the end of the game, no more goals were scored before Brian Liebler finally caused the opening-party fright with a powerful play in the penultimate minute. The people of Linz also won the first duel of season 5:3.
