Slovakia set their sights on the quarter-finals again at the Ice Hockey World Championships in the Czech Republic after a stunning win over co-favorites USA.
After an early 4:6 defeat against Germany, Slovakia recorded their third win after beating the USA 5:4 (2:0, 2:1, 0:3, 1:0) after extra time. Group B game.
In a hard-fought battle with several physical clashes, the Slovaks took a 2-0 lead in the first third thanks to goals from Milos Kelemen (4th minute) and Libor Hudacek (12th). Matt Boldy (25th) narrowed the scoring, but Simon Nemec (28th) and Patrick Koch (29th) made it 4-1.
USA with only one win
