Co-favorites USA celebrated their third win at the Ice Hockey World Cup. Still aiming to reach the quarter-finals.

The Americans moved into second place in Group B with a 4-1 (0-0, 2-0, 2-1) win over winless Poland on Friday evening (May 17, 2024). DEB team previously won 8:2 against Kazakhstan.

Michael Kesselring (31st), Brady Tkachuk (40th) and Cole Coffield (42nd/50th) scored for Team USA. Germany's opponents on Saturday (4:20pm) are Poland, who are in last place and face the second world champions as outsiders.

The Czech Republic is already in the quarterfinals

Czech Republic beat Austria 4-0 (1-0, 2-0, 1-0) in Group A. The hosts are early in the quarter-finals after their fourth win in five games, while the Austrians await their second win in the competition after Thursday's coup against Finland.

Denmark had earlier narrowly won 4:3 (2:2, 1:1, 1:0) against Great Britain, dashing British dreams of their first World Cup victory.
