Bayern Munich started the new Bundesliga season perfectly with three wins. Now the Croatian champions are waiting for Dinamo Zagreb in the first round of the Champions League (Tuesday, 9pm on LIVETICKER).

However, the Bundesliga champions will have to do without Sascha Boey for now: the full-back will be out for weeks with a torn meniscus. A day before the Champions League opener, coach Vincent Kompany spoke about the defensive failings and announced solutions. Press conference to read:

“I didn't expect that question. I didn't think about it for a moment, to be honest. I'm preparing for this match like any other.”

“I knew I couldn’t take a player with me for the game against Holstein Kiel. In this case it was Lyon. Now we only have 20 players because of the loss of Sascha Boey. So the question probably won’t arise for a long time. I talk to the players a lot, preferably after the game. I really like to explain what I think and why I act the way I do.

Kompany arrives Sport1– The request: “For Bayern Munich, it is always about appearing dominant. It is nothing new to worry about your opponent. You also want to exploit your weaknesses and prepare for your strengths.

“I can't make much difference between individual games. There shouldn't be any difference against Zagreb or Barcelona.”

“It's hard to say how we will experience this new format. The dream is there for the fans, they can dream too. The main thing for me is to show it on the pitch. We have a tough game tomorrow. The important thing is to play well and win tomorrow. We hope the fans can dream for a long time.”

Kompany: “We have options. We will think about it this evening. It's very short-term. We don't have much time to prepare. But we have solutions. Of course it's a shame for Sascha. He was in a good mood. We hope he'll be back quickly.”

Neuer has answered all the questions, now it's Kompany's turn.

“We players, who have known and appreciated him for a long time, are also suffering. He has always been an important factor on the pitch, so we hope he can help us on the pitch again. I believe in him, he is motivated to the core, you can see that in every training session. I firmly believe that his time will come.

“It's something new. We have very good rivals in the league stage. The launch will be very important. It also helped us in the league and the cup. With the four wins, you stand on the pitch with a wider chest. We want to continue this momentum in the match against Dinamo.

“In 2012, we also had a season without a title. Unfortunately, we now had to experience that as well. We all know what happened next, that was the treble. The motivation in the team is very high.”

“I don’t start the season just to say goodbye. I feel very good and I’m productive. Time will tell my physical condition and if I enjoy it and if I’m needed.

“Sometimes we face one-on-one situations in defence. I try to assess situations and when to intervene. I have also become a different game with the ball. Sometimes I stand a little higher than before.

“The most important thing is that the final is in Munich, and we want to go there. Everything else is of secondary importance. We will give everything for this.”
