Faithless – and singer Maxi Jazz – became world-famous with their hit line “I Can’t Sleep” and the following techno sampler, one of the most formative in music history.
Infamous singer Maxi Jazz (“Insomnia” and “We Come 1”) has died at the age of 65. “We are saddened that Maxi Jazz passed away peacefully at his home in south London last night,” his bandmates wrote on the group’s official social media accounts on Christmas Eve. “He gave our music the right meaning and message.”
The real name of the English rapper, singer and songwriter was Maxwell Alexander Fraser. He was a brilliant lyricist, DJ, moral compass and genius, said band partners Rollo Armstrong and Sister Bliss.
“I can not sleep”
Faithless and Jazz became world famous with their hit line “I Can’t Sleep” and the following techno sample, one of the most formative samples in music history. Formed in 1995, the band has produced seven studio albums and headlined some of the biggest festivals in the world. After breaking up in 2011, the band began working together again in 2015. In 2020 the band released the album “All Blessed”. However, he was scored without offensive player Maxi Jazz.
