KAC achieves a confident three-point win in Asiago

Asiago is by far one of the most unpleasant competitors in the ICE Hockey League. A long journey topped by a hall with no mood or atmosphere. The Black Wings Linz witnessed just how unpredictable Asiago Hockey can be on Friday in one of the most bizarre games in the league. Asiago was already leading by 3-0 and 5-2, and after a brilliant spell for the Upper Austria team, escaped on penalties, which the Italians won 8-7.

Although Asiago is one of the particularly strong local teams, scoring 17 out of 23 points as hosts, KAC were not deterred on the first Sunday of Advent. Although they arrived with only 20 men and had to deal with some absences, Thomas Hundertfond was missing, having undergone surgery planned for Friday. Jan Morsac, who suffered two injuries in the match against Innsbruck and is currently forced to take a rest, was also absent. Nikki Krause was also sick. KAC started with just eleven forwards.

The match started with a bang, of course. In the first minute, Asiago scored 1-0. A shot hit Valati and went into the net behind Dahm. From this point on, the people of Klagenfurt assumed leadership. KAC restricted the opposition in their own third, one ice tracking the other. But: there was no convincing chance to score. But only until the 11th minute: Cassetti directs Ganahal’s pass into his own net. The score remained 2-1 in favor of the Kuwaiti club after 40 minutes.

A 3-1 win in the final section for Herberger (45th) after a brilliant cross from Postman was the initial decision. Vallant’s 4:1 ratio was actually just a bonus. In the end, KAC hit a confident three-pointer. After the Italians lost 2: 4, Bischofberger ended the match with an empty-handed goal.
