Iranian President Ayatollah Ali Khamenei received in Tehran the head of the political bureau of the Palestinian Hamas movement. The official Iranian news agency IRNA reported yesterday, citing Osama Hamdan, the representative of the Islamic organization in Lebanon, that Ismail Hanija traveled to the Iranian capital “a few days ago” to hold talks.
Khamenei is considered the most powerful man in Iran, and as a religious leader, he has the final say on all strategic issues. Iranian media did not previously publish any reports about the meeting, and it appears that the trip remained secret. It is not clear exactly when Hania was in Tehran.
Hamas fires another missile towards Eilat
The military wing of the Palestinian Hamas movement, which controls the Gaza Strip, fired another longer-range missile at southern Israel yesterday. The Al-Qassam Brigades said that it fired an Ayyash 250 missile at the Israeli coastal city of Eilat in the far south of Israel. This is a self-produced missile, and according to Hamas, its range should reach 250 kilometers.
The Israeli army said that an attack from the Gaza Strip had been identified after a missile warning in the Arava area north of Eilat. The projectile was intercepted by the Arrow missile defense system. According to paramedics, there were no injuries based on initial results.
Many residents of towns evacuated after the massacre committed by Hamas in the border area with the Gaza Strip on October 7, have been sheltered in Eilat on the Red Sea.
