British King Charles III. (75) will be participating in the Trooping the Color Christmas show on June 15. The German News Agency in London learned of this from palace circles on Thursday. Therefore, the king, who suffers from cancer, will not lead the procession of his guards on horseback as usual, but will sit in a carriage with Queen Camilla (76).
However, Princess Kate (42), who is also suffering from cancer, is not expected to return to the public at this time. According to the Palace, the rehearsal for the “Colonel's Review”, which will take place a week before the Christmas parade, will be conducted by Lieutenant-General James Bucknall. British media indicated that this task falls on Kate's responsibility as “Colonel-in-Chief of the Irish Guards.”
At the beginning of February, the palace announced that the king was suffering from an unspecified type of cancer. He then began outpatient treatment and largely withdrew from public life. However, at the end of April, it was said that the treatment had shown positive results and that the king would at least partially attend public appointments again.
Kate also announced her cancer diagnosis at the end of March. She said in a very personal video message that she had begun preventive chemotherapy. It is also not known what the cancer looks like.
Unlike the King, Kate has completely withdrawn from her duties as a member of the royal family. When she will return is uncertain. It is not known whether the treatment was successful or how she is doing now. Her husband, heir to the throne, Prince William (41 years old), also stayed away from the public for weeks to support his family. However, the royals have postponed most of their public appearances until after the general election scheduled for July 4.
