Kite Decision Postponed With Pontus | Debris.com

Valentin Pontus won the first final race, then poor wind forced a postponement to Friday.

The decision in the windsurfing final with medalist Valentin Pontus has been postponed until (tomorrow) Friday. The final had to be cancelled on Thursday afternoon due to light winds after the race won by Pontus. The Lower Austrian is on his way to a medal after the “victory”.

A few hours earlier, Pontus had finished fourth after seven races in the opening series and a win in the semi-final was enough to move into the top four. In this, the 23-year-old dominated the first race from the start and claimed his first “win”. Before the second final race, the wind suddenly stopped and Pontus and Slovenian Toni Vodicek fell into the water with their kites. The organizer then decided to postpone the final.

Vodisk and Maximilian Maeder of Singapore started the final with two goals and one win respectively, while Italy's Riccardo Pianussi was winless. The athlete who wins three races first is the Olympic champion.
