Today EC VSV won their second quarter-final match in Ljubljana 4: 3. The game was overshadowed by a serious incident involving Chris Collins (inform us). The league has now issued a statement on the matter.
He drove VSV 3:2 at the start of the final section, before Chris Collins suddenly lay on the ground motionless. Villach’s attacker was examined and then hit his head on the rink without any physical strain.
Play was suspended for minutes, Collins administered first aid on the ice and then ran off the ice to an ambulance, where (already confirmed) was a responder. He is currently being treated in hospital, but there is no clarity yet on his health condition.
Statement on the situation in which Chris Collins was involved in a HKO vs. VSV match:
We sympathize with the player and respect the injury at this point. That’s why we are not posting a video at this time. Clean blow got worse here. Get well soon Chris Collins.– win2day ICE Hockey League (@win2dayICE) March 11, 2022
Meanwhile, the league also posted a statement on Twitter, saying it was a clean check against Collins, confirming the referee’s decision not to impose a penalty on Laibach.
He also stated that for reasons of piety (such as free TV partner Puls24 during the broadcast) they will not be showing any pictures of the scene at the moment and are considering Chris Collins.
