Blau Weiß Linz lost the lead in the second division. Despite the apparent increase in chances Friday evening in the 27th round hit against Lavnitz III, Upper Austria did not pass a goalless draw and fell behind new leaders FC Liefering by equal points. “Little Bulls” easily prevailed over Vorwärts Steyr with 4: 1 being at the top of the table due to the addition of one goal.
Linz’s winning streak ended with ten matches, and they failed to be the first team in Serie B history to win eleven games in a row. The top three teams are not eligible for an upgrade. Walker Innsbruck tied fourth with Lavnitz on points by winning 5-1 at home against GAK and kept a small chance for a direct promotion to the Bundesliga. Eight points are missing from the top duo three laps before the end, one of which must be crossed in order to avoid relegation to the bottom of the German League in the struggle for the field of Oberhouse.
The blue and white team coached by Ronald Bronmeyer were the most dangerous team in Linz for 90 minutes, but they missed many chances without the injured goal-scorer and league goalscorer Fabien Schubert. Especially in the second half, when Christian Dubras (47, 57), Stefano Sordanovic (83) and Oliver Philippe (88) came close to scoring the goal. Lavnitz goalkeeper Andreas Zingel kept his goal clean. The match was halted for a few minutes in the 59th minute due to a hail.
Liefering was safe in Steyr, Benjamin Sisko scored twice (third, 57), and David Avengeruber (41) and Elias Havel (45 + 2), who had recently played in the Bundesliga, also entered the list of shots. It was the fourth successive victory in the eleventh match in which the new league leaders were unbeaten.
Sixth straight win for Walker
Things are now working better for Innsbruck. The Tyroleans earned three points for the sixth time in a row and are still at the top of the race for the best team to qualify for the promotion. Their lead over Austria’s fifth Klagenfurt increased to at least four points until Sunday, when the Carinthians competed against Juniors Au.
Ronivaldo was superior against GAK, who almost single-handedly decided the game with four packs (1, 13, 66, 90). The 32-year-old Brazilian, whose success kicked off his head after 53 seconds, has now had 11 goals this season. Dario Grojsic made the last point, as GAK goalkeeper Christoph Nakht failed in a free kick (95).
Two goals perfectly prepared by Fabio Vettreti, who was injured after the break. For the Tyroleans, this is the second bad news in a short time after goalkeeper Marco Kanaler suffered a broken jaw against Rapid 2. Substitute Alexander Ikmaer, 21, didn’t do his job well in Tivoli with just a few saves, he also started the goal The second with a big shot.
SV Horn celebrated at the bottom of the league with a 2-1 victory over FAC after trailing 0: 1. Previously, Waldvirtler had played eleven matches without a win and lost six times on his winger. Rapid II’s penultimate split from Seventh Kapfenberg 1: 1.
