Stefanie Lindstaedt signed the contract as founding rector of the new Digital University of Linz on Friday, thus officially putting an end to the contentious selection process.
It was a long and not entirely smooth process until the final signing of the contract, which made Stephanie Lindstedt the founding president of the new Institute for Digital Science Austria (IDSA). More on that in Contract negotiations are still under way with the IDSA University President (ooe.ORF.at, 13.6.23).
Officially in office from July
With Friday now official, Lindstaedt will take office in July. This would then also presumably lead to a further contraction in the actual foundation phase of the new university, which according to plans should begin its operations in the fall. The founding agreement outlined the first strategic pillars and training courses offered, with detailed work still pending.
Lindstaedt: “Help shape digital transformation”
Lindstaedt, who recently worked at the University of Graz, is looking forward to the new assignment: “It is an honor for me to head IDSA as founding chair and thus to make an important contribution to Austria’s digital transformation in science, business and the business community involved in design.”
Strong international focus
It is particularly important to her that IDSA implement the principles of interdisciplinarity and collaboration, both in the university system and in business. “We appeal to international students interested in the interaction between AI/computer science and disciplines from technology, natural sciences, economics, law, social sciences and humanities as well as design and art,” explains Stefanie Lindstaedt.
