Jurgen Klopp wanted to stay a little longer. As the manager of a Premier League club, you rarely come to the legendary city’s land lately.
Nottingham Forest FC, based there since 1898, hasn’t played in the Premier League since 1999. You have to paint Nottingham as a cup ticket to enjoy the city’s stadium.

90 minutes said quickly. Liverpool imposed the match, but Nottingham resisted with all their might and came close to feeling. In the end, the “Reds” qualified for the semi-finals with a goal through Diogo Jota (78).
Liverpool is hungry for trophies
As usual, the atmosphere at City Ground was great, even after the final whistle. Reason enough for Klopp to enjoy the atmosphere a little longer. Before leaving the field, he chatted with a young Forrest fan and gave him his hat as a farewell gift.
Emotionally, it was a successful outing for Liverpool. Athletic too, but basically just “business as usual”. A narrow win at a second-tier mid-level club doesn’t make the fans’ hearts beat any faster.
But it was another milestone on the way to what could be a historic season. Liverpool still have a chance to win four titles of the League Cup, the FA Cup, the Championship and the Champions League at the end of March. No English team has ever managed the Fab Four in a single season.
In total, there have been 120 attempts by 15 different clubs in the past 62 years. Manchester City went the furthest point last season. The Skyblues won the Championship and League Cup, reached the FA Cup semi-finals and were in the Champions League final.
Klopp reduces the chance of achieving a quartet: ‘Absolutely crazy’
Klopp can’t get much out of the title hunt. He described the Fab Four and the quartet’s conversation as “totally crazy”. The timing of this is totally absurd. “If we lose even one game in the near future, it will be with your Fab Four,” Klopp said on press tour.
Liverpool secretly put themselves in a comfortable position. As the revival of FC Barcelona or the dissolution of Paris Saint-Germain is debated across Europe, the Reds are rushing from victory to victory. 15 of 17 competitive matches were won in 2022. Liverpool suffered their only bankruptcy in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16 against Inter Milan (0:1).
In the English Premier League, Liverpool scored eight consecutive victories and reduced the gap against leaders Manchester City from eight to one point in this period.
Small scene, high efficiency
Remarkably, Klopp’s team usually wins without the big spectacle. In their last 26 games, Liverpool have scored more than three goals just once – in the 6-0 league win over Leeds United at the end of February.
But Klopp can count on an exceptionally good defensive line. In eleven out of 14 matches, no players were behind.
“Klopp was able to adjust their 4-3-3 attack a little bit. Liverpool no longer play recklessly, they run games. If you have high defensive quality, you can take it. And they have that up front anyway, enough players who can strike from Nothingness, so analyzed Liverpool legend and “Sky” expert Jamie Carragher.
In the defense quadrant, the positions of full-backs Andrew Robertson, Alexander-Arnold and defender Virgil van Dijk were installed. Joel Matip usually plays alongside Van Dijk and Ibrahima Knaute occasionally.
Before that, Fabinho proved to be indispensable in the six. Captain Jordan Henderson, in particular, managed to impress half of the positions in the midfield. Ex-Leipziger Naby Keita also offers consistent performances.
Diaz Club gives more options in advance
In attack, Klopp spoils the choice. Sadio Mane, Firmino, Mohamed Salah, Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz – every coach would like to have that choice. Carragher sees a big difference from previous years in signing in January with Diaz, who came from FC Porto for €45m.
“Diaz is giving Klopp another great option,” said Carragher. “They have a lot of options going forward. What Liverpool have on the bench is a lot better than what they had on the bench when they became Champions League champions.”

Even Klopp recently spoke more publicly about “the best team since I’ve been here. There’s no doubt about that. If not, it means we’ve put off over the years.”
Liverpool has always had a strong team. “There are a number of reasons why we don’t get that far in four competitions in previous years. Timing is as important in football as it is in life, and if you have a wonderful December on three wheels, for example, it will be in January, when The cup competitions are already starting, it will be a bit bumpy,” Klopp said.
A strong bank gives Klopp the opportunity to rotate without losing too much quality. Otherwise the narrow program cannot be managed. Liverpool have already played 47 official matches this season, and 63 could be in the Champions League final on May 28.
Juventus wants Salah to replace Dybala
But Salah continues to play poker and has an attractive new option at Juventus Turin. As reported by “Gazzetta dello Sport” on Wednesday, Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri would like to sign Salah to succeed Paulo Dybala. The Argentine will leave the “old lady” on a free transfer after the end of the season.
Regardless of this, there are two very hot months ahead of Salah and Liverpool. It could be historical. For Salah, Klopp, Liverpool and all English football.
