Kitzbühel. Gamsstadt becomes a place for “My Local, Your Local”! This week is all about the legendary Christmas special of the popular cooking show – and of course Rosi's Sonnbergstuben shouldn't be missing. Owner and chef Friedel Schipflinger uses the wooden spoon himself and appears on Mike Sauser's TV show with other area restaurateurs.
Filming has now begun for the first episode. Fingers crossed for Friedel Schaepflinger, who impresses all the famous people of Kitz and of course all the other guests every year with his rustic yet elegant cooking style.
Friedel Schaepflinger: A Life in the Kitchen
Friedel Schipflinger, the host of Rosi's Sonnbergstuben, originally had other plans. “I actually wanted to be a mechanic because I was successful in motocross as a teenager,” he recalls. But at Mama Rosie's urging, he decided to train as a chef – a path he doesn't regret to this day. “I enjoyed it from the beginning.”
Schipflinger's cuisine is realistic, diverse and international at the same time. Motto: “Make more from less – achieve maximum results with minimal effort.” He especially loves Austrian cuisine, which can always be reinterpreted with its classic dishes. Viennese schnitzel with cornflake bread or beef with chili show how Friedel gives tradition a modern twist.
Mediterranean and Asian influences in the cuisine
In addition to Austrian cuisine, Friedel has a great passion for Mediterranean and Asian dishes. “We've had sushi on the menu since last year,” he reveals. The creative preparation of fresh produce fascinates and ensures a varied menu at Rosis Sonnbergstubn.
Who knows, maybe Friedel's culinary creations will reach number one on “My Local, Your Local.” One thing is certain: with his great passion and famous cooking style, he will make Kitzbühel shine on TV.
