Following the signings of Leo Mikic and Luka Misl, the next move is imminent at the bottom of the Bundesliga. Brazilian defender Matheus Lins – who was still playing for second-tier club Bregenz last fall – has been training with Vorarlberg since this week.
Matthews Lenz is about to return to Andreas Heraf.
Austria Lustenau
Further down the table, Austria Lustenau welcomes a new face into this week of spring preparations. Brazilian defender Matheus Lens can prove himself in Vorarlberg's training and is on the verge of moving to Andreas Heraf's team. The new Lustenauer coach had already worked successfully with Lins during his stint as head coach of Schwarz-Weiß Bregenz, but Lins has not played a game since the end of September due to visa issues. At the time, the Bundesliga also began proceedings against Bregens over an allegation that he and two teammates played without work permits.
However, in Lustenau, they hope that they will be able to eliminate all legal difficulties regarding the transfer, as they write on their social media channels: “All legal requirements (valid work permit, etc.) are currently being met”… “It was created to finally get the centre-back's commitment.”
Lins moved to Austria in the summer of 2022 and joined regional league side VfB Hohenems. A year later, he moved to newly promoted FC Bregenz, where he was one of the permanent staff members under Hirav until he was suspended. He was in the starting lineup for the first nine matches of the current Second League season. After Leo Mikic and Luka Misl, Linz will be the third former student of coach Hirav to find his way to Lustenau.
