Madonna had to postpone her planned world tour shortly in June due to a serious injury, and the American pop star is now announcing new concert dates. The worldwide “Celebration Tour” is set to start on October 14 in London, promoter Live Nation announced yesterday on Madonna’s website.
After four sold out concerts in London, the tour continued across Europe through the beginning of December, including Belgium, Sweden, Spain, France and Germany. There are two shows planned there, in Cologne and Berlin. The tour does not lead to Austria, where Madonna was last seen in Vienna in 2012.
The tour schedule has been turned upside down
Only after her European tour will Madonna be on stage in North America. After the first American concerts in New York in mid-December, more than 50 concerts are scheduled in the USA, Canada and Mexico until the end of April.
The Celebration Tour was originally scheduled to begin in Vancouver, Canada on July 15, followed by shows in the US and continuing in Europe in the fall. But due to a severe bacterial infection, the pop icon had to spend several days in intensive care in June and had to postpone her world tour on short notice.
As part of the party, the Grammy winner will perform her greatest hits from the past 40 years, from her debut album Madonna (1983) to her 2019 album Madame X. Her 65th birthday – on August 16 – was originally in the middle of the tour.
