Discontinued due to health issues
The Royal Air Maroc plane was stopped due to the discomfort of a passenger. The newspaper wrote that investigators assumed “all this was planned.” Between 10 and 20 passengers escaped from the plane while waiting for rescue workers. Doctors could not find any weakness in the alleged sick person. The person who accompanied him also withdrew to the hospital.
The pilots had to be diverted
Many of the approaching passenger planes had to be diverted to other airports such as Menorca or Ibiza, as shown on the Aena website. Machines that were ready to start could not take off.
Mallorca: Two fugitives arrested
According to El Pais, only two fugitives have been arrested so far, and the search for others is underway. The newspaper reported that the alleged injured person who led to the stop was in police custody. The security forces were deployed in large numbers, including 20 vehicles.
With an annual passenger volume of about 30 million passengers (2019), Palma de Mallorca is the third largest airport in Spain, after metropolitan Madrid and Barcelona. The area of the airport is 6.3 square kilometers.
