ÖFB record signing Marko Arnautovic has spoken out again after Austria's exit from the European Championship in the round of 16.
Marko Arnautovic took to Instagram five days after Austria were knocked out of the European Championship in the round of 16 by Turkey. “This defeat hurts, but it will not define us. We will come back stronger. For you. For us. For Austria,” the ÖFB player announced on Sunday.
Arnautovic thanked the fans: “You were our 12th man, both on the pitch and in front of the screens at home. Your passion and support motivated us every minute and every game. There was also a tribute to the coaching staff who always believed in us and motivated us to grow beyond ourselves. You showed us that nothing is impossible when we stick together as a team.
Fighting, suffering and joy
For him, his ÖFB teammates “became not just teammates, but brothers. We fought, suffered and cheered together. These memories will remain in our hearts forever,” said Arnautovic. The Viennese also stressed: “This journey ends here, but our dreams and pride are not broken.”
Arnautovic did not provide any information on whether he would continue playing for the national team in the future. The 35-year-old said immediately after the 2-1 loss to Turkey that he wanted to discuss the issue with his family in the coming days and weeks. (APA)
