Berlin Nintendo hero and Ubisoft rabbits team up once again in Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope. Instead of a smart jump, effective tactics are what we need above all else.
At least since the success of the Marvel’s Avengers movies, big crossovers have been on everyone’s lips. This also applies to the console: in “Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope” the famous Nintendo plumber meets Ubisoft’s rampaging rabbits for the second time.
Mario’s squad lives peacefully alongside the rabbit clones created in the previous kingdom battle. But when a flying evil ray suddenly invades the Mushroom Kingdom and hides it completely in the dark, hostile bunnies and classic Mario opponents like Gumbas or Bob-ombs have taken over – players have to get out of the way.
Round after round instead of frantic commuting

Unlike classic platform games like Super Mario Galaxy, the battles in Sparks of Hope are mostly turn-based, which requires a lot more tactics than just clever jumping. Mario and Bunnies are equipped with various weapons and abilities to take down enemies at the other end of the chessboard. It is also important to fortify yourself well after each movement, because opponents will respond with similar firepower.
Round after round, Mario and his Rapid Friends make their way through the accumulated opposition. Brains are needed here instead of stupid work.

With a turn-based approach and role-playing elements such as skill trees and collectible items, the game mechanics are more comprehensive and magical than the classic Mario games. It is precisely this journey into the tactical genre that should make the game fun for many – even if it requires a bit more thought.
Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope is a Nintendo Switch exclusive. Cost: 60 euros.
