This was the 60th song, which was traditionally performed on Pentecost at the Kultursaal in Mühlen. This was last possible 4 years ago, so the joy of the guys in the choir as well as the audience was even greater. Another anniversary was to be celebrated: Mayor Herbert Gresser had served as head of MGV Zirbitzkogel for 30 years. At the 60th concert of the song he was able to welcome, among others, District Chief Geert Rundhammer and District Choirmaster Franz Valencak, as well as singers from fellow choir societies. The program was moderated by Kurt Krenbucher, active vocalist and Deputy Mayor of Newmarket.
The evening opened with the singing of “Der Verliebte” (The Lover) by Lorenz Mayrhofer. MGV Zirbitzkogel conducted Fridolin Bulheimer for many years, and now Florian Kugler is the choir director with the support of his predecessor. The program is enriched by the Wieting singing community with Chairman Margot Höfferer and Choir Director Hildegard Krenn. During the intermission and after the programme, “Colmer Boam” provided the musical entertainment.
Some of the choir members have been honored by the Carinthian Choral Society, information on this from Tuesday noon. President Herbert Gresser was awarded the Styrian Choir Society’s Gold Medal of Honor.
