Miba has been working on battery technologies for over five years. “Based on our company’s mission ‘Technologies for a Cleaner Planet’, we want to increase our turnover to 1.5 billion euros by 2027 using technologies for end applications for efficient energy generation, transmission, storage and use,” Mitterbauer explains. “Batteries as energy storage media are an important pillar.” Sales here are currently around €1 billion.
In 2019, the company acquired Battery Specialist volt lab Which has grown tremendously since then and has been mostly owned by Miba since Spring 2022 under the new name Miba Battery Systems.
MIBA has already invested around €80 million in its electrification strategy since 2019. “Our goal is to work in close partnership with our customers to develop their electrified products in the future, make them ready for serial production and produce them at the highest quality,” says Mitterbauer. “Thus, we are laying a fundamental foundation for Miba’s further growth, in the electrical field as well as in our other business areas.” In Upper Austria alone, the company is looking for more than 100 additional employees.
