But this is not the only error that now appears in the documentation for known issues after recent Windows updates. However, the second confirmed bug only affects input with multi-byte character sets such as those used in Japanese, Korean, and Chinese. However, end users are also affected by this.
We have translated the error descriptions for you. You will find the most important information on this topic at the end of this article.
There is no solution in sight
In either case, users of the latest Windows 22H2 (2022) build are affected. Details can be found in file Windows Release Health Documentation. There, the Windows team states that they are currently investigating the cause and that there is still no temporary solution. The Windows team is working on the fix and will provide an update as soon as possible. In some cases, it may actually be useful to switch from an earlier version to more recent patches.
Description of the text conversion error
When you type in languages that use multi-byte character sets—such as Japanese, Korean, and Chinese—character conversions may not work correctly. Text conversion occurs when a string of characters is converted to different characters by user selection. This usually causes additional prediction and candidate transformation windows to appear near the cursor position as you type.
Noticeable symptoms may include:
- A wrong character range is automatically selected for conversion, which causes unexpected options to be displayed in the conversion options window.
- The cursor may move to an unexpected position, causing an incorrect string to be selected for conversion. This can lead to the first symptom.
Next steps: We are working on a solution and will provide an update in one of the next releases.
Affected platforms:
- client: Windows 11 version 22H2
- Server: no one
Deployment package issues
When using provisioning packs on Windows 11 version 22H2, not all expected apps may be installed. Affected applications require high privileges to install (must be installed as administrator) and may not have sufficient privileges to install during deployment. Provisioning packages are .PPKG files that are used to configure new devices for use on corporate or school networks. Deploying Windows devices using Windows Autopilot is not affected by this issue.
bypass: Any required applications that are not installed after deployment is complete can be installed.
Next steps: We are working on a solution and will provide an update in one of the next releases.
Importance: If you are using deployment packages, we recommend that you install updates released on November 29, 2022 or later before deploying devices to avoid the issue where Windows may be partially configured and the out-of-box experience with deployment packages may not be complete.
Affected platforms:
- Client: Windows 11, version 22H2
- Servers: None
