Each generation of PlayStation had its own features. However, PS5 players don’t seem to care much about DualSense.
The first PlayStation console convinced with 3D capabilities. The DVD drive was the standard for all things PS2 times, including the game eye. PS3 had a Blu-ray drive. The PS4 can fly, if at times it gets as loud as a jet plane. With the PlayStation 5, video games “feel” thanks to haptic feedback and adaptive triggers PS5 DualSense Controller Unique and new. Features that most gamers don’t seem to care about.
According to another Scan on ResetEra 1,715 have cast their votes so far on the question: “How much do your PS5 differentials contribute to your enjoyment of games on the platform?”
Scan on PS5 with interesting results
DualSense haptics, adaptive triggers and 3D audio were up for voting. The choices were “increase my happiness”, “nice but frivolous”, “indifferent” and “I don’t like it”.
Most gamers don’t seem to like the DualSense features of the Sony PlayStation 5 (PS5), according to a survey of 1,715 (as of this writing) respondents.
“Only” 36.1% stated that the DualSense tactile technology, adaptive triggers, and spatial audio “significantly” improved their gaming experience. 27.5% of the participants said they were “very cute” but went unnoticed after a while. 23.3% said they were “indifferent” to the DualSense’s features. Even 13.1% of the survey participants stated that they have (partially) deactivated the functions.
Of course, this isn’t a completely representative survey of all PS5 owners. On the other hand, it can also be due to the fact that many multi-platform games barely support PS5 functionality or not at all. Astro’s game room, which came with the PS5 at launch, was the “perfect demo” of the new PlayStation features. Since then I have to admit that I “hardly notice” them. Exclusive titles like Gran Turismo 7 make better use of the DualSense controller’s features than FIFA 23, for example.
Comments mostly differ from the survey result
If you read it Comments on the survey on Resetera.com With that said, it’s actually hard to believe that a lot of PS5 gamers don’t care about the DualSense’s functionality. Diogo Ariz wrote that the haptic feedback “completely changed gameplay”. “Now I feel like every time I play a game without it [DualSense-Funktionen] Gameplay, not aligned, especially on other platforms,” the commentator continued.
On the other hand, there are also lines like from “Sumach”: “I get it after Astro [Astro’s Playroom] parked forever and not even noticing the spatial sound.”
My opinion: anyone who has “driven” Gran Turismo 7 with a DualSense controller will simply miss this feeling. But of course opinions can differ. For some gamers, it is critical that the PlayStation console’s battery life lasts a long time.
