The Kazakhstan Grand Prix was supposed to premiere next June between the two MotoGP events in Mugello and Assen. Given the catastrophic situation the country is going through, a new date must be found.
This Friday, the FIM, IRTA and Dorna were forced to postpone the Kazakh Grand Prix. The current disastrous situation in Central Asia is cited as the reason. Unprecedented weather conditions have led to flooding across a vast area, causing a national emergency in Kazakhstan and the displacement of many residents.
According to the MotoGP calendar, the Kazakhstan premiere at the brand-new Sokol racing facility was scheduled for June 14-16, between the two marquee events at Mugello and Assen.
According to the organizers' announcement, the company will not be responsible if MotoGP imposes an additional burden on the authorities or services. All resources are currently needed to help tens of thousands of affected people across the country.
Therefore, the new international circuit in Sokol will not host the MotoGP World Championship on the previously announced dates. A new date has not been announced yet, but the official announcement assumes that it will be in 2024.
As a top priority, MotoGP sends its condolences and support to the people of Kazakhstan and all those affected by the floods in Central Asia. The organizers of the MotoGP World Championship hope that the nation, the region and the affected communities will be able to recover as quickly as possible.
