We go to the Dervishes and to their mystical whirlpool, but we also visit the great American modernist Jasper Johns, and we will enter into an orgy of contradictions—hence the piece’s title—as well as into a marked confusion of identities. All this with a concert by the ORF Radio Symphony Orchestra at the ORF musikprotokoll festival in Steirischer herbst. The concert was taped exactly a week ago today at Helmut List Halle in Graz. The authors of all these adventurous stories come from all over the world: Shiva Visharki, Olga Neuwirth, Margarita Virik Petri? The color of the kali. RSO Vienna will be directed by Yalda Zamani, and now it will become clear why these artists come not from all over the world, but from all over the world: this is a concert with an exclusively female crew in almost all key positions. Soloists Maria Radoto and Tania Tzlaf are also present, and Anneli Gall is exceptionally head of the concert in the orchestra. Just the post-scenario for these four world premieres and world premieres, two of which were achieved with the support of VGR – Verwertungsgesellschaft Rundfunk, is another international adventure trip, but then the males are represented: in the final part of the Ö1 concert, we remember the world show First in Musikprotokoll with RSO Vienna from 2019, the world premiere that was seen as a huge sensation at the time, on the orchestral piece “Polychronia” by Mikhail Shugliashvili. At that time, Ylan Volkov performed at the RSO Vienna concert and parts of Mikhail Shugliashvili’s “Great Chromatic Fantasy” can still be heard today at the end of the Ö1 concert. Christian Ship accompanies you on all these adventures.
