The German women's national volleyball team began the second part of its Olympic career with another defeat.
In the Nations League (VNL) series held in Arlington/Texas, USA, the team of national coach Alexander Vaibil lost 1:3 (25:20, 20:25, 9:25, 24:26) to European champions Turkey. after a good start).
The DVV women finished the first VNL block in Antalya, Turkey with one win and three losses, dashing their hopes of a Paris ticket.
At the end of the group stage (June 16), Germany must be among the top ten teams in the world rankings to secure one of the last five tickets to the Summer Olympics in Paris (July 26 to August 11). Before the international tournament block, Germany were in twelfth place and their prospects were not improving.
Unlike the men, the German players missed their first chance to qualify for the Olympics in the elimination tournament. Waibl, who is also the coach of Bundesliga club Dreznor SC (since 2009), was transferred to the national coaching position until August following the unexpected resignation of Belgian Vital Heynen.
The DVV selection will play their next game against Canada on Thursday (11:00pm CEST).
