Soprano Anna Netrebko has to undergo severe surgery on her right shoulder. As a result, the 50-year-old is forced to cancel her concert scheduled for Sunday (October 24) at Musikverein as well as her performance as Abigail in Verdi’s “Nabucco” at the Vienna Opera in the first half of November. Unfortunately, both houses reported this.
“I have been experiencing severe pain in my shoulder for several months, and my doctor advised me to undergo urgent surgery and then immediately begin physical rehabilitation to solve the problem,” the Austrian-Russian explained in his broadcast.
At Musikverein, Netrebko was supposed to play some of their most famous songs along with Ekaterina Semenchuk on Sundays with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra under conductor AndrĂ©s Orozco-Estrada. Here tickets will be redeemed, with work on a future date, the Concert Hall announced. In the opera house, Netrebko was supposed to sing “Nabucco” on November 1, 6, 9 and 12. The new Abigail lineup will be announced here in the coming days.
