New air strikes were reported in Ukraine on Friday. The mayor of Kharkiv reported several explosions that could be heard in the city. Infrastructure facilities will be attacked. In the capital, Kyiv, in the far west, Reuters correspondents reported that the missile defense system was in use. Mayor Vitali Klitschko said explosions took place in Kyiv.
There used to be an air alert. The authorities called on the residents to head to safety. “Do not ignore the air alert, stay in shelters,” Kyrilo Tymoshenko, deputy head of the presidential office, wrote on Telegram on Friday. Since October, the Russian military has attacked Ukraine’s energy infrastructure in several waves. This led to power outages across the country.
According to a report by the Russian state news agency TASS, at least eight people were killed in a Ukrainian missile attack on the Luhansk region in eastern Ukraine, which is controlled by Russian forces. Another 23 people were wounded when rocket-propelled grenades hit the village of Lantrativka. TASS cited unidentified emergency services sources. She added that a building in the area was destroyed and some people were trapped under the rubble.
