New York New York Deputy Governor Brian Benjamin was arrested Tuesday in connection with a corruption investigation. This was announced by the US Attorney General. Benjamin has been the Deputy Governor since September with Kathy Hochul.
Democrats have been accused of accepting illegal campaign donations. Charges include bribery, breach of duty (Honest Services Wire Fraud) and falsification of files.
Two months after Benjamin was elected lieutenant governor – he was the second black man in New York State – he was arrested for campaigning for the regulator’s office after a real estate agent offered him donations.
“Benjamin abused his power as New York state senator and engaged in bribery, in which he used public funds for his own corrupt purposes.“According to the indictment.

The Comptroller of New York is the third highest office in the state. There was no charge against Benjamin then.
