The family-run Novum Hospitality is the first hotel in Spain to open the Holiday Inn Barcelona – Sant Cugat in the Barcelona metropolitan area. The concession hotel was introduced as part of a multi-development agreement between IHG Hotel & Resorts and Novum Hospitality. The long-term agreement between the hotel groups covers a total of 20 opening hotels.
The real estate group Europa-Center was responsible for the project’s development and investment. After Essen’s niu Cobbles, the Holiday Inn is the second project that Novum Hospitality has realized with the Hamburg company.
David Etminan, CEO and owner of Novum Hospitality, is pleased with the continued European expansion: “The opening of our first hotel in Spain marks a significant milestone for Novum Hospitality. The Europa-Center team has done a fantastic job developing, building and implementing this hotel. I am proud to open and operate this premium, full-service hotel under the Holiday Inn brand.”
Comfortable hotel in Barcelona metropolitan area
The newly constructed 4-star Al Madinah Hotel is designed to accommodate both business and leisure travelers. It contains 208 rooms with a modern design of the Holiday Inn brand. All rooms are equipped with a flat-screen TV and desk. They are air-conditioned and have a private bathroom with a shower. Two suites with direct access to the balcony complete the show.
In addition to function and conference rooms, there is also a fitness room in the hotel. Four charging stations for guests who drive electric cars have been installed in the hotel’s underground car park.
By uniting the reception, restaurant, bar, lounge and business center into one connected open space, the open lobby replaces the traditional hotel lobby in terms of its functionality. In addition, the hotel has a rooftop terrace with a view of Montserrat and its own restaurant with changing and local dishes.
Marcus Marin, General Manager
The new hotel is the responsibility of 51-year-old Marcus Marin as general manager. The previously trained BA Hotel Manager has held positions at The Gates Diagonal Barcelona and at the hotel chain H10 Punta Negra Resort.
