Marko Arnautovic rumours: Genoa are said to be interested in the 35-year-old. Arnautovic is currently on the bench at Inter Milan.
The future of ÖFB star Marko Arnautovic is clearly not yet clear. According to a report in the sports daily Gazzetta dello Sport (Wednesday's edition), Italian champions Inter Milan are considering an offer from Genoa for the 35-year-old. Genoa coach Alberto Gilardino is looking for a replacement for national striker Matteo Retegi, who has moved to Atalanta Bergamo. Arnautovic's representatives are said to have already arrived in Genoa for talks.
Only the fourth striker at Inter Milan
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter are pressuring Arnautovic to move to their league rivals. His contract with Milan runs until the summer of 2025. The Austrian national record striker seems to want to honour it. According to media reports, an agreement was reached last week to stay. However, Arnautovic will only be Inter's fourth striker. Captain Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram were already selected last season. Instead of Alexis Sanchez leaving, the Nerazzurri brought in Iranian Mehdi Taremi from Porto in the summer.
Inter kick off their Serie A season on Saturday (6.30pm) with an away match against Genoa. However, Arnautovic is likely to miss the game. The veteran striker is suffering from a thigh strain. (APA)
